Piku - Movie Review

Lovely movie. Buy the DVD and add it to the collection of movies one can watch later. It's timeless work. Reminded me of the Basu Chatterjee, Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies.

Amitabh Bachchan reinvents himself yet again but of all his new avatars this is the most endearing. He is palpably real as Bhaskor Banerjee and goes under your skin. Deepika Padukone is a revelation as Piku and Irfan Khan is perfect as the owner-driver. The get togethers - Moushumi Chatterjee stands out there - lunches and dinners, are wonderfully captured. Just as the detailed discussions of the digestive system and the many theories behind the behind.

Shoojit Sirkar, take a bow. Motion in emotion indeed. It could well be the first love story built around discussions on constipation. Watch it again. I certainly will. Love these characters.
