Words of Wisdom From Jayaprada

I was reading the 'Proust Questionnaire' in The Hindu yesterday, something I don't normally understand - the questions and even more so, the answers. Jayaprada's interview was on the same lines until I hit some fine words of wisdom from her to a question where she was asked about the words or phrases she most overuses.

The amazingly beautiful, talented, resilient and highly successful actor, politician and celebrity, someone regarded as 'the most beautiful actress on the Indian screen' by Satyajit Ray (and by any more of us who saw her movies in the 1980's and were stunned by the sublime grace she brought to the screen in 'Anthuleni Katha', 'Sagara Sangamam', 'Siri Siri Muvva' and other movies of that time) responded in this fashion.

"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life. Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other thought. That is the way to success."

I completely subscribe to her idea. For anyone who is in doubt as to how, this should put all thoughts at rest. Pick one idea, any idea, and give it your best shot.

Very true. But it will not work with just any random idea. It must be one that you are really passionate about.

Satjit ray was almost right. The most beautiful star on the Indian screen was Silk Smitha.

Yeah i've had a few jacks. Daniels that is.

Madhav,
I think you are right about taking up about the one you are passionate about. That is undoubtedly the best way.

But more and more people I meet say they are scared to pursue their passions. They are caught between not being able to follow their passion and not wanting to like what they are otherwise doing - a job.

For such people, and there are many, I think it might be a good idea to pursue the job (ideally because you spend most of your time and energy there anyway) or anything else, with that single minded purpose she talks of, and things somehow open up in other areas too. It is a convoluted way of doing things but when confused about one's passion etc, do that one thing well and it leads you to success, as Jayaprada says.

Satyajit Ray said nothing about Silk Smitha if I recall. But a few Jack Daniels certainly could make the world appear a lot more beautiful I am sure.
